Thermal Colours, a proposal by lighting design agency LITE Designs, won the invitational light art competition. The competition task was to create a light installation at the entrance of the Kuopion Energia office building. The artwork had to consider the changes between light and dark times and seasons and their effects on lighting. Thermal Colours consist of two parts: transparent light panel cladding on the windows and light-reflecting hologram boards in the stairwell.
During daylight hours, natural light passes through transparent light panels and filters softly. At dusk and dark, the light panels create a colour-changing façade and stairwell lighting, where the shades of lighting change according to the seasons.
AICCI was responsible for the technical design and manufacture of the light panel cladding for the windows. The work included the implementation of light panels, a suspension system and a DMX lighting control unit.
